Raz Gross

Assistant Professor of Clinical Epidemiology,  Mailman School of Public Health

and:
Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry, College of Physicians and Surgeons

Dr. Raz Gross’ research focuses on the prenatal, perinatal, and early life medical and environmental determinants of severe mental illness, and on the interface between psychiatric and medical conditions. Examples of his research include the relationships between diabetes and depression, and interstitial cystitis (a chronic urinary bladder disorder) and panic disorder, both of which were conducted at the Clinical and Genetic Epidemiology Unit of the New York State Psychiatric Institute. Dr. Gross is the principle investigator of a clinical trial in which the efficacy of an anti-panic drug in this urological condition is tested. He is also currently involved in a large study of the mental health effects of 9/11 on disaster workers in New York City, and is a co-editor of a forthcoming book on the mental health effects of the 9/11 attacks.
