Linda F. Cushman

Associate Clinical Professor of Population and Family Health,  Mailman School of Public Health


Linda F. Cushman, PhD is a sociologist and health researcher with expertise in research design and implementation in underserved, minority communities. She has directed numerous clinic and community-based studies in the areas of reproductive health, disease prevention, health services utilization, the use of alternative medicines, and health and migration issues in the Dominican Republic. Dr. Cushman works with a variety of agencies and CPMC Clinical Departments to adapt quantitative and qualitative field procedures and instruments for use in diverse cultural settings. Her recent projects involve combining methodologies to evaluate an adolescent health service in Santo Domingo, a major asthma initiative in Harlem, and a new HIV screening and treatment program in the La Romana, DR. Dr. Cushman teaches research design and methodology to graduate students in Public Health, and coordinates the Practicum Program in the Heilbrunn Department of Population and Family Health.
