John Whysner

Associate Clinical Professor of Environmental Health Sciences,  Mailman School of Public Health


Dr. Whysner currently works as a consulting toxicologist in occupational and environmental medicine. His research has involved mechanisms of chemical-induced cancer including benzene and acute myelogenous leukemia, acrylonitrile and brain cancer, polychlorinated biphenyls and liver cancer and butylated hydroxyanisole and stomach cancer. A primary focus of this research is the extrapolation of findings in experimental animals to humans. He teaches the Fundamentals of Toxicology course to prospective MPH and PhD students. Dr Whysner has consulted to many US agencies including the White House and to the International Agency for Research on Cancer.
