Bruce J. Armstrong

Associate Clinical Professor of Population and Family Health,  Mailman School of Public Health


Dr. Bruce Armstrong founded the Young Men’s Clinic at New York Presbyterian Hospital and helped establish school-based clinics in Washington Heights. He directs hospital-, school- and community-based men’s reproductive and sexual health initiatives at the Center for Community Health and Education. He is also the director of the Clinical Practice I clerkship program for first year medical students at the College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Armstrong teaches the substantive course, Adolescent Health: A Public Health Perspective. He has authored and co-authored publications on adolescent health and men’s health, and is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Men’s Health, the board of the Male Advocacy Network, and the Male Involvement Advisory Committee for Title X, Region II. Dr. Armstrong frequently presents on men’s health services at local, regional, national, and international conferences and training events. He has served as a consultant with numerous organizations including EngenderHealth, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the Vera Institute of Justice, the Urban Institute, the New York City Department of Health, and the federal Office of Population Affairs. He has also served as a consultant in the Philippines, Kenya, Ghana, and Sweden.
