| Dr. Chen's discipline is infectious diseases in obstetrics. She has lectured, written reviews, and continues to evaluate the use of antibiotics during pregnancy, labor and delivery, and the postpartum periods. She studies the epidemiology of early-onset neonatal sepsis caused by antibiotic-resistant organisms. She also investigates the role of antibitoic-resistant organisms in pregnant women. Dr. Chen also has an interest in mother to child transmission of HIV-1 and has particpated in a few projects.
