| Most of Dr. Geiger's professional career has been devoted to the problems of health, poverty and human rights. He initiated the community helth center model in the US, directed the first urban and first rural health centers, and was a leader in the development of the national network of more than 1000 community health centers serving more than
15 million low-income and minority patients. His research interests in recent years have focused on the problems of racial and ethnic disparities in the quality of medical care and in the health status of population groups.
