Joseph C. d'Oronzio

Dr. Joseph d’Oronzio is an independent consultant in bioethics, public policy, and medical education, working with several healthcare agencies in the New York-New Jersey area. His teaching, research and writing focuses on the intersections of bioethics, public policy, human rights, and patients’ rights. Dr. d’Oronzio also has a special interest in professional ethics and public health policy and regulation which derives from his work as a founder and director of the Ethics Group, LLC, originators of the ProBE Program, a national educational service in professional ethics for licensing boards and other agencies of the health professions, offered since 1992. He works as consultant with several New Jersey hospital ethics committees and residency training programs and is the public policy advisor to the Executive Council of the New Jersey Chapter of the American College of Physicians. Dr. d’Oronzio was the 2003-2004 Raoul Wallenberg Visiting Professor in Human Rights at the Rutgers University Center for Historical Analysis, a member of the Task Force on Public and Professional Education of the New Jersey Bioethics Commission, and previously served as the academic administrator of Overlook Hospital, a Columbia P & S affiliate, in Summit, N.J. He is a contributor to MKSAP XII (ACP) and to the Encyclopedia of U. S. Biomedical Policy.
