Sylvie M. Le Blancq

Assistant Professor of Clinical Environmental Health Sciences,  Mailman School of Public Health


Dr. Le Blancq’s research has focused on a number of parasites that cause significant health problems in both developed and developing countries, including Cryptosporidium and Giardia. Her work included molecular studies to understand parasite biology and she has published over 35 papers. Her teaching responsibilities at Columbia included mentoring graduate student research; and she designed and teaches, as sole instructor, a graduate school class ‘Water and Infectious Disease’. She also developed and co-taught an undergraduate class ‘Biodiversity and Human Health’. Dr. Le Blancq is a consultant for global health and international AIDS research to the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
