Lorraine Tiezzi

Associate Clinical Professor of Population and Family Health,  Mailman School of Public Health
and:
Director, Center for Community Health and Education

Lorraine Tiezzi, MS, has 17 years of service as director of the Mailman School’s Center for Community Health and Education (CCHE), where her focus is on expanding access to comprehensive, high quality reproductive health services for low income and undocumented, uninsured minority women and men in Northern Manhattan. The family planning clinic provides reproductive healthcare annually to more than 12,000 women ages 14-45; a majority of whom are Latina or African American. Located within the clinic is the nationally recognized Young Men's Clinic, serving over 1,400 men. With assuring access as her top priority, Ms. Tiezzi also expanded and enhanced primary care clinics based in public schools in some of the poorest districts of Manhattan. CCHE now operates six school-based health centers that provide over 7,000 students aged 11-21 with on site access to comprehensive primary care including mental health, health education, and reproductive health. Ms Tiezzi was instrumental in pioneering IN YOUR FACE, an intensive case management approach for sexually active and high risk intermediate school students. The Center's intermediate school-based health centers were the first in the nation to provide students with on site access to reproductive health services including contraceptives.
