Joshua S. Graff Zivin

Associate Professor of Health Policy and Management,  Mailman School of Public Health


Dr. Joshua Graff Zivin’s research to date has centered on the importance of uncertainty and heterogeneity on individual and societal decision-making. In the area of environmental regulation and public health, he has focused primarily on the use of targeted policies to achieve environmental health objectives. He has also written numerous articles applying his methodological expertise in the area of health economics and medical decision-making, with a recent focus on infectious diseases. His publications have appeared in a wide range of economic policy, and medical journals. Dr. Graff Zivin is principal investigator for an AHRQ-funded project to develop cost-effectiveness methodologies that can adequately reflect preferences regarding current and intertemporal uncertainty and the director of the Merck-sponsored Columbia-Stanford Consortium on Medical Innovation. He is also a faculty research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research.
