Melissa Begg Hailed as Outstanding Teacher

Melissa Begg, ScD, professor of clinical Biostatistics, received the 2006 Columbia University Presidential Award for Outstanding Teaching. She was one of five recipients out of a pool of more than 250 university-wide nominees.

With four faculty members having received this prestigious honor since 2000, the Mailman School leads Columbia's professional schools with the most awardees. Dr. Begg also received the Mailman School of Public Health Teacher of the Year award for 2006-a distinct honor as she is the first statistician to win this title in the history of the award. At the Frontline congratulates Professor Begg.
