P8340   Diagnostic radiology applications, 3 points

This course is a practicum which provides clinical experience of performing medical physics testing of Diagnostic Radiology imaging equipment. The students will accompany the full time Radiology Physics staff in the testing of the following imaging equipment: x-ray radiography units (mobile and fixed), fluoroscopy units (mobile and fixed), angiography units, CT scanners, MRI scanners, and ultrasound units. The students are required to read about vendors’ specifications, regulatory and accreditation requirements about equipment performance. Students will perform measurements and analyze data. They shall prepare a QC Report forms for three different types of imaging equipment and submit a full report on three different types of imaging equipment for a major portion of the grade. The course will require 10-15 hours per week for 6 week to gather the data and then the additional time to analyze the data and prepare reports for submission.
